Pour a bottle of red wine into a pot. Add all of the ingredients. Bring mixture to a low simmer for 30 minutes to an hour being careful not to boil. Serve in mugs. Garnish optional with a Cinnamon stick, cloves or star anise.
SPIKED HOT CHOCOLATE
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Cups Milk
3 Tbsp Sugar
1/4 Tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch cinnamon
1/4 Cup Semi Sweet chocolate chips
2 Oz Dark Rum or Bourbon
In a Saucepan over medium heat, add the cocoa powder and 1/4 Cup of the milk, whisking util the cocoa powder is mostly integrated. Whisk in the remaining milk until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and heat over medium heat until the chocolate is melted being careful not to boil. Stir in the Rum or Bourbon. Serve in a mug with Whipped Cream or Marshmallows.
SPIKED APPLE CIDER
1/2 Tsp Cloves
3 Star Anise
4 Cinnamon Sticks
8 Cups Apple Cider
1 Cup Rum or Bourbon
Optional Garnish: Orange Slice, Cinnamon Stick or Star Anise
Add the Spices to the bottom of a pot and toast over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionly until fragrant. Turn the heat down to Low and add the apple cider. Set a timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, pour the contents through a strainer into another pot. Add the Rum or Bourbon. Pour Cider into mugs. Garnish optional with an Orange slice, cinnamon stick or star anise.
HOT TODDY MOCKTAIL
2 Oz Non-Alcoholic Rum
4 Oz Herbal Tea, freshly brewed
3/4 Oz honey simple syrup
1/4 Oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
Lemon twist for garnish
Warm a mug. In the warm mug add non-alcoholic rum, herbal tea, honey simple syrup and the lemon juice. Stir to mix. Garnish with a lemon twist.
